Bessie Coleman was born January 26,1892 in Atlanta Texas, to Susan and George Coleman. Bessie was born into a poor family, she was a sibling of 12. At the age of 23 in 1915 Bessie moved to Chicago with her brother, while she was there she started to listen to and read stories of World War 1 pilots, which got her interested in aviation. She learned french and moved to France to achieve her goals because schools in the United States denied her. After 7 months she earned her France's well known Caudron Brother's School Of Aviation License.  When Bessie returned to the United States she earned a living barnstorming and performing
aerial tricks by specializing in stunt flying and parachuting. In 1922, she became the first black women to earn a pilots license. At the age of 34, Bessie was killed in an accident during a rehearsal for an aerial show.
